16 R-universe governance
16.1 Governance
R-universe was initiated at, and is currently governed by, rOpenSci.
rOpenSci is a non-profit initiative that supports open and reproducible science through different projects, including and not limited to: a software peer-review system for R packages, a champions program for people from historically and systematically excluded groups who are interested in contributing to rOpenSci and the broader open source and open science communities, multilingual publishing efforts. rOpenSci builds a welcoming and diverse community. rOpenSci curates a blog, coworking events, community calls.
R-universe development is lead by Jeroen Ooms.
16.2 Funding
R-universe is financially supported by the R Consortium as a top-level project.
R-universe previously received funding by the Moore Foundation and Google Season of Docs.
